They allow one way stopovers on international tickets booked with miles so you can almost get double value for your miles and most of their redemption are of much lower value then competition. Alaska is unique for the fact they allow you to credit flights from american airlines and delta so you don’t actually have to become a member of their frequent flyer programs should you wish . Hi folks i booked this trip with miles via american express a while back and flew it about 3 months ago.Before you read this i also warn you i am not a native English speaker . As it was my first time in first class i was quite excited . This ticket can cost a whopping $8000 for a one way ! isn’t that crazy now? well i managed to fly it for free as that is what we do at howtofreetravel after all right? Please forgive the image quality i promise i will buy a professional camera as soon as i get back to the states! Some people were explaining I didn’t explain how I got this flight well I signed up for one amex platinum got a signup bonuses of 50k miles + some spend I had transferred 58000 thousand miles to Kris Flyer and booked a first class ticket . Not sure if you care or not but a new EL-AL credit card is coming out soon . From the rumors it seems you can earn 40 matmid points for 1 dollar which is better then current possible earnings for EL AL ( transferring american express miles). EL AL award chart is listed below.

As you remember i recently got approved for a freedom card with chase (20k points bonus) . Chase is really good with secure message and allows you to do complex actions such as shifting credit lines around and getting a card sent to an alternative address via secure message which saves you time! . Here is a nice example of what i mean.
